The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) organized a one-day Guidance on Competition Compliance (GCC) Training Workshop specifically tailored for officials of microfinance banks associated with cellular companies operating in Pakistan. Representatives from Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited, U Microfinance Bank Limited, and Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited participated in the event.

The workshop focused on substantive provisions of Competition Law relating to mergers & acquisitions, prohibited agreements, abuse of dominance, and deceptive marketing practices. Given the pivotal role of microfinance banks in Pakistan's economy and their expanding portfolios, CCP organized this specialized session to enhance awareness and promote self-compliance within the sector.

Participants, comprising officials responsible for marketing, legal, compliance, risk management, investigation, branding, and financial affairs, benefited from practical insights and discussions on Competition Law.

In the closing session, representatives from the participating microfinance banks expressed gratitude for the valuable takeaways from the workshop. Mr. Salman Amin, in his closing remarks, reiterated CCP's commitment to ensuring free competition and emphasized the importance of a country's competition index for investors. He highlighted CCP's dedication to promoting self-compliance through awareness initiatives like the GCC Training Workshop, fostering an enabling environment with minimal regulatory interventions.
