Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance is the key federal agency responsible for the economic and financial management of the country. Its domain extends to important financial matters such as the preparation of the annual budget for the consideration and approval of Parliament. In so doing, the Ministry focuses on broader areas relating to financial and fiscal policy including economic growth, economic stabilization, inflation, poverty reduction, public debt management and economic reforms.
For administrative purposes it also serves as the parent Ministry of some federal agencies that include the Competition Commission of Pakistan.
It is the shared vision of the Ministry of Finance and the Competition Commission of Pakistan to promote economic growth and to foster the necessary ingredients for a vibrant economy

Mr. Tariq Bajwa

Tariq Bajwa is a retired Pakistani civil servant who held high-ranking positions in several departments. He served in the BPS-22 grade as the Finance Secretary and Economic Affairs Secretary of Pakistan. He was also the 19th Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and the 20th Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue.

Bajwa is a distinguished figure, being the only Pakistani to win the Littauer Fellowship at Harvard University. He also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the same institution.

Bajwa served as the Governor of the State Bank from July 7th, 2017 to May 3rd, 2019. He was previously a member of the Pakistan Administrative Service and served as the Economic Affairs Secretary of Pakistan from November 2015 to February 2017 and as the Finance Secretary of Pakistan from February 2017 to July 2017. He also held the position of Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue from July 2013 to October 2015. Additionally, he has previously served as the Finance Secretary to the Government of Punjab and as the head of Pakistan's Trade Mission in Los Angeles.

Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal

Finance Secretary

Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal is a career civil servant with over 28 years of experience in key administrative and policy making positions in the Government of Pakistan. Before joining as Finance Secretary on 19th May, 2023, Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal has held important positions of Secretary, Industries & Production and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). He has also worked as Additional Secretary (Expenditure) and Additional Secretary (Banking/Investment/Inter-governmental Finance) in Ministry of Finance in the years 2020-2022. Mr. Imdad Ullah Bosal has also served as Secretary to the Chief Minister Punjab, Special Secretary Finance (Punjab) and as Commissioner of two important regions of Punjab i.e. Rawalpindi and Lahore.

He has done Masters of Public Policy from Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford and M.Scin Political Economy of Development (Distinction) from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

He has been awarded national award of Sitara-e-Imtiaz for recognition of his contribution in public service by the Government of Pakistan.
