The Federal Government has appointed Shaista Bano Gilani and Bushra Naz Malik as Members Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) for three years term. Both the new Members have taken charge of their offices. Shaista Bano has a Master’s Degree in ‘Economics for Competition Law’ from King’s College, University of London, and a Master’s in Business Administration with majors in Finance from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad. She is also an Associate Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). Before her appointment as Member, she was working with CCP as Director General Cartels & Trade Abuse where she conducted several important enquiries resulting in the imposition of penalties on powerful cartels. She has also worked with the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan as Deputy Registrar of Companies. Bushra Naz Malik is an FCA from Pakistan and CA/CPA from Ontario, Canada. She did MBA from Joint Program of Kellogg Business School USA and Schulich Business School Canada, and Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from Harvard Business School USA. She also has an LLB degree. Her professional experience includes eight years of consultancy services to public and private sector organizations in Pakistan and abroad, and 18 years in the areas of business development and finance in the private sector. Her extensive work in the field of audit includes chairing the committees and boards of various national and international organisations. After the appointment of these two new Members, the Commission now consists of five Members as stipulated in Section 14 of the Competition Act, 2010. The other three Members include the Chairperson Vadiyya Khalil, Dr. Shahzad Ansar, and Dr. Muhammad Saleem.
