The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has denied the contents of the advertisements pertaining to CCP in newspapers “Roznama Jang” and “The News” by Geo television network on 1st March 2011 as baseless, without merit and misconceived. CCP has not taken any action against the concerned undertakings. Cognizance of the matter has been taken by CCP on its own pursuant to the substantive provisions of the Competition Act. Undertakings concerned have so far only been required to furnish information as exclusive rights prima facie raise competition concerns and need scrutiny for exemption under law. CCP has cautioned that it reserves its right to legal recourse for the frivolous and baseless allegations against all those responsible for such conduct.
