A group of probationary officers from the Civil Services Academy (CSA), as part of their training under the 51st Common Training Programme (CTP) visited the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) in Islamabad. The objective of the visit was to familiarize the officers with different tiers of the Federal Government and gain insights into administrative, social, and economic dynamics. Mr. Saeed Ahmad Nawaz, Member (Office of Fair Trade), CCP, presided over the meeting wherein he underscored the significant challenges and opportunities presented by the advent of the Fifth Industrial Revolution (IR 5.0). Mr. Nawaz elaborated on the proactive measures undertaken by the CCP, including the establishment of a Market Intelligence Unit (MIU), to effectively navigate the evolving economic landscape. The syndicate group, engaged in researching the "Implications of Fifth Industrial Revolution (IR 5.0) on Public Sector Management in Pakistan," pose multiple questions and found the engagement beneficial for their research. The syndicate group also benefited from a comprehensive presentation delivered by Mr. Shahzad Hussain, DG (Advocacy)/Registrar of CCP, shedding light on the core components of Competition Law. The presentation elaborated various aspects such as Mergers, Prohibited Agreements, Deceptive Marketing, and Acquisitions, tracing the historical trajectory of Competition Law and its pivotal role in fostering a competitive environment conducive to Pakistan's economic progress. Reflecting on the visit, the syndicate group expressed gratitude to CCP for its warm hospitality and invaluable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities posed by IR 5.0.
