The Chairperson Ms. Rahat Kaunain Hassan, along the Member Advocacy, Ms. Shaista Bano and DG Advocacy, Mr. Asfandyar Khattak visited OICCI on June 16, 2021, for an interactive session with OICCI members to explain the ongoing CCP’s vision enforcement and policy initiatives. The session enabled OICCI members to clarify some matters relating to the Regulatory Body and also to discuss matters of mutual interest. SG/CE OICCI, Mr. M. Abdul Aleem welcomed the CCP team and appreciated their visit during the COVID-19 pandemic environment. The chairperson shared the nine main focus areas of CCP’s strategic Vision, which include: Enforcement & Policy Intervention, Essential Commodities, Improving public procurement, Concession agreements, Digital markets & E-Commerce, Economic efficiency of SMEs, Collaboration & partnerships, Strengthening leniency framework and Knowledge Based Advocacy, after mentioning some CCP milestones which included the approval of Competition Act in 2010, levy of 3?es and Commission’s constitutional acceptability by Lahore High Court in Oct 2020. The OICCI members found the presentation very informative and effective, and also raised a number of queries, which were duly clarified by the CCP team. In conclusion the Chairperson assured that the CCP in collaboration with government was trying its best to provide level playing field for all businesses operating in the country and offered full support to OICCI members for safeguarding their interest. The meeting, which was attended by senior executives of member companies, in person and virtually, was very productive providing members information about CCP views on matters which impact the Corporate and other sectors. In conclusion Ms Rahat Kaunain Hassan assured OICCI members that the CCP will stay engaged with OICCI to ensure Ease of Doing Business and resolution of matters which require CCP support. M. Abdul Aleem appreciated the support of CCP and said OICCI members welcome all initiatives resulting in Ease of Doing Business and again thanked Ms. Rahat Kaunain Hassan and her team for the visit and for sharing the CCP vision and responding to members queries.
